Dear Brunei

Brunei Government has BLOCKED SMEs and ME

Who ever came up with this idea, thinking that it would bring good to Brunei Darussalam, needs to remake their strategy

What were they thinking, closing cafes at 12 and gym at 9 ????? It affects me because 1. im a frequent cafe person and 2. im a gymnasium person.

thats on MY side. what about the business side ? Imposing this will not only kill the people’s entertainment needs, but will also kill the business progress.

My story

I work 8.30am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday. Then 6pm – 9pm, i attend my night class. From 9pm to – 12am, it will either be

a) dinner with my girlfriend
b) cafe with my friends
c) gym
4) studio

the Government has just destroyed my social life indefinitely.

SME’s Story

I dont even have to interview them for this, I would know what they’re going through. For cafes and restaurants, their peak business hours are night time, ecspecially at weekends. This sucks for them, cause it means, they wont make much money … no profit = business closed = no fun for people.

Dear Brunei

You want us to work at SMEs. But you’re dragging SME down. With less income for the SME, they’ll need less worker. Which means increase UEMPLOYMENT.

You know, if this is Brunei’s Government way to cut down crime right, its the worst move ever. If they really want to cut down crimes, they should send more cops to go on patrol (instead of road blocking drivers with tinted windows)

Brunei Tourism ?

Gentleman, blogs are your best friend. This is my “market research” on Brunei Tourism. Enjoy.
Firstly,
Brunei is a dry country…
Luckily, non-Muslim tourists are permitted to bring 2 bottles of alcohol (wine or spirits) and 12 cans of beer into the country. Certain hotels seem to reconcile their religious beliefs with a duty of care and also manage to keep tourists discretely watered.
Secondly, Bandar Seri Begawan is tiny. Tom and I picked up a map of the CBD and planned an afternoon of sightseeing. Less than a minute later we had walked from one side of the city to the other and realised we had better make other plans.
One place we visited that afternoon was the Royal Museum. I learnt from this is that the Sultan is a very rich man, who has a lot of very rich friends, who have given him a lot of very expensive presents, that he doesn’t like enough to keep in his palace.

Before stepping off the plane, an introductory tourist video politely reminded us (or more specifically female tourists) that because Brunei was a Muslim country, we should ‘observe the local dress code and dress modestly’. After stepping off the plane, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my jeans and three-quarter length top were more than suitable and that the attire of local women failed to reveal any coherent dress code, Muslim or otherwise.
What do you think ? Will Brunei succeed ?

names and titles

Brunei is probably THE ONLY countries in the world where their (high-ranked) citizen’s status title is 10 times longer than their name.

I dunno. Im not really against it or anything. But there are things that doesnt even require common sense to figure out. And there are times when we dont need to show off?

Allah made us all equal. and as a Muslim country,I would thought most of us would know that. Reason I comment on this is, because,I’d like to know if it is Islam’s teaching to make your self higher than others, and to point it out? Is it Islam teaching that we have to address you as Dato or Pengiran when we are conversing ?

My sister used to work at Standard Chartered, and one of her customer was a Dato. My sister didnt know him nor does she knows the protocol of speaking to a Dato, and when she address him as his First name, he exclaims “dato bah, dato xxxx”. I mean, what the fuck man? WAJIB kah meng-address kita sebagai dato ? Gi pun, my sister was only 18. kita makan nasi, minum air, beria di jamban, tidur di katil. tani sama saja bah. yang bezanya, duit kita lagi banyak.

ani tah ulah nya sebagai seorang dato ?

Maybe as a sign of respect we address ourself as Peramba. But should we give you any respect when you force us to address you as Dato ?

Yang mana lagi mulia? Title nama or Title Haji ? Title Haji di berkati oleh Allah Taala, tapi, napa bila disebut dan bila ditulis, Title Nama kluar dulu, baru tah Title Haji ?

Brunei Darussalam National Day
January 23, 2008, 3:51 pm

Gentlemen, I have a simple questions to ask. What does National Day means to you ? Is it worth celebrating the Brunei Darussalam National Day, thats coming in 1 month tomorrow? Gentlemen, look at the current state of the country right now, are we even “there” yet ?

The Brunei Darussalam 24th National Day, it’s going to be 24 years since Brunei gain it’s independence from the British Empire. So we are “free”, but are we getting anywhere with our “freedom” ?

Are we, in any way, on par with our neighboring countries standards ? Wait, lets not limit ourself. Can our system SURPASS the international standards???

ISSUE ONE — We have unemployment issues. And it’s not a small issue people. 4000 unemployement is not a small number. That is a HUGE problem. STUDENTS are LEFT JOBLESS.

ISSUE TWO — Unemployment means that all AVAILABLE (Government) JOBS are OCCUPIED, right ? Which means number of labour is at ITS PEAk. So that means, the nations political and economical status should boost right ? Well … is it boosted anywhere ?

ISSUE THREE — Fine, no work available at the Government, then, we shall join the SMEs. What the hell ?!?!?!?! I am more QUALIFIED and MORE EXPERIENCE YET my salary + bonus will never be as high as those Gov Servants’ starting salary. Ever heard of Minimum Wage ? Come to think about it, staying with the British would have been a better idea huh. You want to implement it ? DO IT. Dont do seminars, meetings, or forum. Thats a waste of time and money. Just do it.

ISSUE FOUR – TOO many OLD people working at the GOVERNMENT. Will they ever retire ???? They’re old saggy, old classic and narrow minded. This country needs younger mind, fresher ideas, a better generation moderation, otherwise the country will never grow. Plus, if they dont retire, how are we; the younger generations, will get our chance to go into the limited number of seats in the Government ? The older you gets, the slower you move, and its our country you’re dragging.

ISSUE FIVE – How can the Government implement e-Government SUCCESSFULLY when majority of the Gov Servants are OLD and IT-ILLITERATE. God, even the young ones dont know what Linux is. Do they realise that the SMEs are taking advantage over their huge stupidity and huge budget ?

ISSUE SIX — Our education system is bad. Ministry of Education need to grow up, and cut Brunei student’s some slack. It only takes 3 years to complete degree course in the United kingdom, but it takes 4 years in Brunei. Seriously, we should have stayed with the British. — Yeah .. YOU DISAGREE having 3 YEAR COURSE in Brunei, but when STUDENTS APPLY FOR WORk, you PREFER GRADUATES from United kingdom, and you place the UBDians into the WAITING LIST.

ISSUE SEVEN — Crimes ….

We had 24 years. Have we achieved much ? So gentlemen, what are we celebrating for ? Public Holiday ….

first. read here and here (topix.com/malaysia)

then, read here (brudirect.com)

1. so the question I would like to ask, did the Bruneian really lead the robbery mob ?

2. does it really matter who lead the mob ? does it matter at all since they are all caught by the police ?

theres 2 undisclosed location that was robbed by these thieves.the news only acknowledged 2 robberies. the one in Kg Batang Mitus .and the one Kilanas. Whereas I heard there we’re 4. The other one was in Bengkurong, during the time frame of Kilanas robbery, while the other one happened 2 weeks ago.

I cant comfirmed you the validity of the Bengkurong robbery, but I can , comfirm the one that occurred 2 weeks ago (location shall remain undisclosed). I happened to know the person who was victimized by the robbery, and last night he told me himself that one of the robber is his own butler. His own indonesian butler robbed his house and gotten away with it (the stolen items weren’t retrieved during the police raid.)

– whether that statement is evident enough, its up to the police to decide. we’ll just wait for their statements and news updates.

take care all

Rumour : rapist background

This rumour may be true, but unless i have proof, they will remain as speculation.

I had a meeting with my source yesterday and he informed a little story and background about this khairul person. He is not to be taken lightly. He can take down 2 guys without touching them. Please be aware that khairul has ‘ilmu batin’. Thats how he was able to escape the police. He was chuffed but he made the officer unlock his chuff. He was previously prisoned for 20 years, for rape crime, but hes not just a rapist.

Before i continue, i would like to enforce you that these post are written without proof. So please understand that it may and could be just rumours.

He has a background of being a contract killer in our neighbouring countries.

It is said that he is still in the kg masin area and his prefered hideout is in the woods.

Do not approach this man on your own. Any sightings please contact 993.

I think i shud give a break to our police enforcement. Brunei is or used to be peaceful country. I dont think they are trained, let alone experience situation like these. Clearly khairul isnt a typical rapist. And it would take more than a typical cop to capture him.

Sword-Wielding Gang In Dawn Heist
By Achong Tanjong & Hj Minor Absah

Bandar Seri Begawan – Armed with samurai sword, parang and axe, eight people were involved in an armed robbery at a house in Kg Batang Mitus, the police reported yesterday.

According to a family member in the house, the robbers managed to enter the room where their mother- and father-in-law were sleeping and tied up both of them. The burglars reportedly entered the house through a bathroom window. The in-laws, both in their mid 60s, were sleeping in their room on the ground floor when the intruders barged in.

The family member said they were actually surprised the robbers did not come up to their rooms on the first floor.

They only realised that the robbery took place after the father-in-law managed to free himself after being tied up by the robbers.

The incident happened around 2am Sunday morning and police was called to

the house at about 3.45am. Sniffer dogs from the Gurkha Reserve’s Canine Unit were also dispatched to the scene to assist the police in their investigations and trace any possible lead left by the robbers.

The police in their press statement, meanwhile, said that the robbers were believed to be foreigners armed with samurai sword, parang and axe. They took away some jewellery valued more than $6,000 and more than $700 in cash.

In connection with the case, the police have urged members of the public to inform the nearest police station or call 993 if they have any information on the robbery. — Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
