To any individuals that is offended by my writings, I apologise.

Complaining is useless. Pragmatic criticism is the word that you’re looking for.
And free education is not an excuse. I read a recent paper about French students SELLING SEX to pay for university education god damnmit, do you think there’s room for excuses?? I lost few friends throughout my years because they can’t afford to study, what makes you think that colleague of yours deserves validity in what she has to say?
And listen to her, talking about killing herself yet wanting to live independently half way round the world, what is that all about? She better pray the government won’t trace her IP because the things she has said hurts so many feelings out there.
And where is the basis for you to say that free education is free in most countries? The last time I was applying for masters in Singapore, Australia and Malaysia, which constitute the major countries you would refer to, it isn’t free, and that includes degree education. Seriously, don’t argue just for the sake of it. You’re only embarrassing yourself. We don’t need another idiot revealing themselves so do take a step back.
And UBD and MOE is not failing. It’s just a character of bureaucracy, its pervasive anywhere you go, in any existing organisation. It’s even more radical here because of civil rights. I’m doing a module on that for god’s sake! And if UBD/MOE is failing, they would have gotten overthrown a year after they were erected and guess what, they’re still standing strong! And shame on you two, the fact that you can speak English and actually type comes from their commitment to educate us! That very organisations that you just dissed!
Free education IS actually special because it gives you a life chance to level yourself from the masses. It means you don’t have to do a part-time job in a chip shop like a colleague of mine just to bloody eat or serve men in their beds and satisfy their lust, all these to get that basic necessity of any human – to educate.
And don’t tell MOE to do their job properly. Maybe it would actually help to dig your own graves so that the country can get rid of ungrateful people like you! If your statistics of “90% of their staff there either takes a nap, chit chat while drinking their tea and have ciggies outside the building” is correct, I don’t think there would be a country at all, you stupid. Mate, everywhere around the world people sneak off work whenever opportunity arises. Face-booking in the workplace, sex among employers, just name it. The difference is just the way they do it, either discreet or visible.

Another individual also made a post regarding the girl.

I felt insulted because she did say quite a few awful things, not just because I am a ubd student. The abundance of swear words did not help the matter. I pity her on the fact that, despite wanting to become independent from her family, she’s too lazy to read the admittance forms and the programs offered.
Sorry if any of you are offended. That was never my intention. If you would like to comment, please restrain yourself from calling me stupid or any names for that matter, otherwise, what different are you from that girl who refuse UBD.
Thanks for reading everyone.

First of all, I’d like to apologize if I have offended you in some ways. You are right, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and in this case, there’s no right or wrong on the matter.
What you said about the MOE being that way is right in some ways, there are people over there who slack off, i.e. go to work at 8, go for tea at 10, pick up the kids at 12, go back to work at 2, pick up the kids at 3 before stopping by work again, and at 4, leave on the intention of picking kids up from school, it is something that I have touched in one of my old posts as well (but not just MOE but the whole government offices in general), but at the same time, there are people in these offices who go to work at 8 and only leaving at 6, and despite that, brought their work home with them.
Yes, I know about the standard of ubd, I know there’s not much of first class graduates in ubd. UBD students know this and lecturers too. However, did you know that a grade B in ubd equals to a grade A in UK? It is like this, ubd grade B = uk grade A, ubd grade C = uk grade B, ubd grade D = uk grade C, and so on. This was relayed to me from one of my UK expat lecturers, who know better than I do.
Again, I’m sorry if intentionally I have made you feel bad on the issue. I never said you know the person. I do not assume it to be that way, as I did read that you got it from your colleague, just like how I came across it in the first place, through Maurina.

Comment by amyheidi February 15, 2008 @ 2:36 pmAt this moment, regarding the girl, I do hope she has learnt her lesson, maybe at this moment, she’s frightened on the consequences of what she wrote, as whatever she wrote did offend a few people and in ubd, it is printed, and passed around for all to read, and imagine if her parents found out, I would think they would be furious at her, as this probably will affect her chances for a scholarship not just to uk but to ubd and other institutions in the country as well.
As fellow bloggers and people, we have lessons to learn from her (despite her younger age), by remembering to think before we blog (or even speak), as we never know who our readers are, and we never know who will be offended by our seemingly innocent post.
I have been in that situation twice, I know how it feels. Once I insulted my lecturer in an old blog, and thought he never knew about it until he dropped the bomb at me in front of the juniors for a sin that I have committed three years before, and the second, when an innocent post of mine about a cousin was misinterpreted and causes a strain between the cousin’s family and my family for nearly a month. Despite proclaiming my innocence, and having others defending me, my mom did not believe that an innocent statement would offend others.
for what its worth, i didn’t find your original post offensive compared to the girl’s, whose opinion was obviously based on a blinded and quick judgement.
